 Sara Khan

Hello! I am Sara Khan. I am from Northern Virginia. I am deaf and my major is graphic designer and photographer. I graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology (NTID) with a Design and Imaging Technology major.

Art has been a major part of my entire life. Growing up I was surrounded by art. My home was filled with art and from there is where I developed my love for the arts. I remember being a little girl, watching my mom work on her art projects. She would spend hours upon hours working on art projects for her kindergarten class. I loved watching how my mom's art projects came together and bloomed into beautiful pictures and works of art. This is what motivated me to become the artistic person I am today.

While I attended Zoppi Dead Camp I was able to develop my skills as a photographer and graphic designer. With my work on various posters, I was able to hone my skills and show my talents for the arts. I am grateful to Zoppi Deaf Camp, Mayra Castro, and other board members for giving me an opportunity to continue utilizing my graphic design and photography skills.

I look forward to continuing to design more and attracting people's attention. To anyone who is reading this and is hearing impaired and aspiring for the arts, I have a few words of encouragement for you: Never give up on your dreams! Work hard, stay organized, be patient and wise, and things will fall in beautiful place. I am glad to know that after years of hard work I am able to put my skills to use and to pursue my love for the arts through my photography and designs.
